AND CO (Fiverr Workspace) Review: Is It Worth It for Freelancers?

AND CO Review: Is It Worth It for Freelancers?

I tested AND CO when it was still independent, before the Fiverr acquisition. It was a promising all-in-one tool for freelancers — contracts, proposals, invoicing, time tracking, and expense management in one free platform. Then Fiverr bought it, rebranded it as Fiverr Workspace, and the focus shifted.

Here’s where it stands now and who it’s actually for.

The AND CO Backstory

AND CO launched in 2015 as a genuinely innovative freelancer tool. The founders understood something most software companies didn’t: freelancers need an all-in-one platform that handles the business side so they can focus on the work. At its peak, AND CO offered free contracts, invoicing, time tracking, expense management, and even basic tax tools — all at no cost.

The business model was clever: AND CO made money through payment processing fees and premium features, keeping the core product free. This attracted hundreds of thousands of freelancers who couldn’t justify $30-40/month for tools like FreshBooks or QuickBooks.

In 2018, Fiverr acquired AND CO and began integrating it into their marketplace ecosystem. By 2020, the rebrand to “Fiverr Workspace” was complete. The core features survived, but the independent spirit — and the pace of innovation — changed noticeably.

For freelancers who used AND CO in its prime, the transition felt like watching your favorite indie restaurant get bought by a chain. The food is still decent, but the character is different.

What Fiverr Workspace Does

The core features are solid:

  • Invoicing: Clean templates, online payments, automatic reminders
  • Contracts: Templates with e-signatures (this was AND CO’s strongest feature)
  • Time tracking: Basic timer with project logging
  • Expense tracking: Receipt scanning and categorization
  • Task management: Simple to-do lists tied to projects
  • Proposals: Basic proposal creation with acceptance workflows
  • Reporting: Simple income and expense reports

Pricing: Free tier available with Fiverr. Paid plans from $16/month for the Essentials plan, which unlocks unlimited contracts, proposals, and clients.

Detailed Feature Breakdown

Invoicing

The invoicing experience is clean and functional. You can create professional-looking invoices with your branding, set up recurring invoices for retainer clients, and enable online payments through Stripe or PayPal integration. Automatic payment reminders are included — a feature that many free tools lack.

However, the invoicing lacks some polish compared to FreshBooks. You can’t easily create partial invoices, the customization options for invoice layout are limited, and the reporting on outstanding invoices isn’t as detailed. For basic freelance invoicing (under 20 invoices per month), it gets the job done.

Payment processing fees: 2.9% + $0.30 per credit card transaction. ACH payments are available on paid plans at 1% per transaction. These rates are competitive with most alternatives.

Contracts

This is where Fiverr Workspace genuinely shines — and it’s the legacy AND CO feature that still holds up. The contract templates are:

  • Legally reviewed by actual attorneys for common freelance scenarios
  • Customizable with drag-and-drop sections
  • E-signature enabled so clients can sign digitally
  • Connected to projects so a signed contract automatically creates a project

Template categories include web development, graphic design, photography, writing, consulting, and general freelance agreements. Each template covers scope of work, payment terms, intellectual property, termination clauses, and liability limitations.

I found the contract templates genuinely useful — better than anything I could draft myself without a lawyer, and better than the generic templates on most freelance blogs.

Time Tracking

The time tracker is basic but functional. Start a timer, assign it to a project, and stop when done. You can view time logs by project and convert tracked time into invoices. There’s no advanced features like idle detection, screenshot monitoring, or detailed productivity analytics. For freelancers who bill hourly, it covers the basics.

Expense Tracking

Receipt scanning works through the mobile app — take a photo, categorize the expense, and it’s logged. You can connect bank accounts on paid plans for automatic expense import. The categorization is basic compared to Wave or FreshBooks, but adequate for simple expense tracking.

My Experience

I tested AND CO for about a month during my tool-evaluation phase. The contract templates were genuinely good — legally reviewed and customizable. The invoicing was adequate but not as polished as FreshBooks. We break this down further in Invoice Ninja Review.

What I liked:

  • Contract templates were the best free option I found at the time
  • Clean, modern interface that doesn’t overwhelm new freelancers
  • Everything in one place — no juggling multiple tools
  • The proposal-to-contract-to-invoice pipeline when it works
  • Mobile app is lightweight and fast
  • Free tier is genuinely usable, not a crippled demo

What I didn’t:

  • The Fiverr acquisition shifted focus toward Fiverr-native freelancers
  • Accounting features are basic compared to Wave or FreshBooks
  • Less development momentum post-acquisition — feature updates slowed
  • Community and support feel more Fiverr-centric
  • No bank reconciliation on the free plan
  • Limited integrations with third-party tools (no Zapier, limited API)
  • Reporting is thin — no profit & loss, no balance sheet, no tax summaries

The comparison reveals Fiverr Workspace’s positioning: it’s a jack-of-all-trades at the free tier, but master of none (except contracts). Wave beats it for accounting. FreshBooks beats it for invoicing and proposals. Bonsai beats it as an all-in-one paid solution.

Who Should Use It

Fiverr freelancers: If you get clients through Fiverr, Workspace integrates naturally with your existing flow. Client communication, project management, and payments all connect to your Fiverr reputation and workflow. This is the tool’s clearest use case.

Brand new freelancers on a tight budget: The free tier offers a solid starting point with more features than PayPal invoicing. If you’re just starting out and can’t afford $20-33/month for tools, Fiverr Workspace gives you contracts, invoicing, and time tracking for free. That’s genuinely valuable when every dollar counts.

Contract-first freelancers: If you primarily need contract templates with invoicing as a secondary need, the contract features are still strong. Photographers, designers, and consultants who send contracts before every engagement will appreciate the template quality.

Freelancers testing the waters: Not sure if freelancing is for you? Fiverr Workspace lets you set up a professional-looking business infrastructure for free. If freelancing sticks, you can graduate to more powerful tools later.

Who Should Skip It

Established freelancers earning $50K+: FreshBooks, Wave, or Bonsai are better standalone options with stronger accounting, reporting, and integrations. At this income level, the $20-33/month for better tools pays for itself in time savings.

Non-Fiverr freelancers: There’s no compelling reason to use Fiverr Workspace if you don’t use Fiverr for client acquisition. The ecosystem benefits disappear, and you’re left with a mid-tier tool without the integration advantage.

Freelancers who need real accounting: If you want profit & loss reports, bank reconciliation, tax summaries, or detailed financial reports, Fiverr Workspace isn’t the answer. Wave (free) or FreshBooks (paid) handle accounting properly.

International freelancers with complex needs: Multi-currency support is limited. Freelancers working with international clients are better served by Xero or FreshBooks + Wise.

The Migration Path

If you’re currently on Fiverr Workspace and outgrowing it, here’s the typical upgrade path I recommend:

  1. Need better accounting → Wave (free). Export your data from Fiverr Workspace, set up Wave for invoicing and bookkeeping. You lose contracts but gain real accounting.

  2. Need an all-in-one upgrade → Bonsai ($21/month). Bonsai offers everything Fiverr Workspace does, but better — plus accounting, tax tools, and a polished client experience.

  3. Need the best invoicing → FreshBooks ($33/month). If invoicing is your priority, FreshBooks is the gold standard for freelancers. Add a separate contract tool if needed.

The Bottom Line

AND CO was great. Fiverr Workspace is… fine. It’s a decent free tool for Fiverr freelancers and a reasonable starting point for beginners. But if you’re not on Fiverr, better options exist at every price point. If you’re exploring this area, our Bonsai Review guide covers it in detail.

Wave (free) beats it for accounting. FreshBooks ($33/month) beats it for invoicing. Bonsai ($21+/month) beats it as an all-in-one. Fiverr Workspace occupies a middle ground that’s best suited for its native ecosystem.

The tool’s greatest strength — those contract templates — is still worth knowing about. If you need a quick, legally-sound contract and don’t want to pay for Bonsai or a lawyer, creating a free Fiverr Workspace account just for the contracts is a legitimate move. Use it for what it’s good at, and don’t expect it to replace dedicated tools for everything else.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AND CO still available?
AND CO was acquired by Fiverr and rebranded as Fiverr Workspace. The core features remain: invoicing, contracts, time tracking, and expense management. Some features are free with a Fiverr account.
How does Fiverr Workspace compare to FreshBooks?
Fiverr Workspace is more basic but cheaper. Good for freelancers who use Fiverr for client acquisition. For non-Fiverr freelancers, FreshBooks or Wave offer better standalone experiences.
Can I use Fiverr Workspace without a Fiverr account?
Technically yes, but the tool is increasingly integrated with the Fiverr marketplace. You'll get the most value if you're already using Fiverr for client acquisition. Without a Fiverr account, standalone tools like Wave or Bonsai offer a better experience.
What happened to AND CO's contract templates?
The contract templates were migrated to Fiverr Workspace and are still available. They remain one of the strongest features — legally reviewed, customizable, and include e-signature support. However, some users report fewer updates to templates since the acquisition.
